There are only a few BIG birthdays. There’s 16 when you get your license, 18 when you can buy cigs, 21 when you can legally drink and 50 when you’re over the hill.
I’ve been told that turning 21 is disappointing because it’s only now that you can “legally do all the things you’ve always done”. Boy were they wrong.
There is not a better feeling in the world than being carded and KNOWING you can legally do it. It’s like a ha-ha to society, really. It’s even exhilarating just to hand the bouncer at the bar your real I.D. and not a fake one… Not that I’ve ever done that…
At meijer I don’t even feel awkward walking through the alcohol aisle. I can buy whatever the hell I want now!!
I can buy a six pack of beer at Rite Aid and the lady at the cash register can’t say shit!! That’s right check my ID it’s REALLLL
And guess what? If you haven’t already gotten one, you can NEVER get an MIP… The fear is gone. (just don’t drive)
But I do have some advice. I know fakes are a cool thing to have, but I recommend waiting and not getting a fake I.D. It makes turning 21 so much more exciting. Having a fake numbs all of these little things because you’ve literally already been doing them since you were 18-19. Give it a rest and wait until you’re actually 21. It feels really good to just sit in an Applebees and order a beer JUST because you LEGALLY can.
With that said, turning 21 is awesome and I am now officially the happiest person on the planet.
